Excursions in the island of Santorini

One of the best options of things to do during your stay in the island of Santorini, whereas you’re staying a few days, arriving by cruise or renting excursions at an agency to enjoy everything the island’s got to offer.

In this sense we can define there are two types of excursions, the ones made by boat, like going to the volcano’s cauldron, the island of Thirassia, making way through the coast to watch the sunset, dinner excursions on a ship,  full day excursions including a BBQ, etc… Amongst this varied offer you can find sailboats, catamarans or small yachts.

On the other hand, we’ve got excursions you can take inside the island itself, normally by bus. They take you to visit the main towns (such as Fira, Oia, etc…), the main beaches (the red beach, Perissa, Perivolos, etc…) and the main landmarks (such as the ancient Thera, the ruins of Akrotiri, Skaros rock, etc…). These excursions are usually by bus though some businesses will take you on their 4×4, thus reaching some areas of the island that otherwise would be hardly accessible.

We’ll now give you a very important related piece of advice:

If you get to the island by cruise, these excursions will normally be part of the offer. Keep in mind the following information: most excursions hired on the cruises are about 40€ and 80€ per person for groups up to 50 people. On the other hand, local businesses have better rates depending on the amount of people who sign up.

Here’s a summary of other local agencies in case you’re interested in these excursions:
