Imerovigli is a picturesque village in the north of Santorini, just 2 km far from the capital of Fira. It is actually the extension of Fira, but the village is situated on a cliff top. Immerovigli name comes from the word “Vigla”, meaning “day.” The position of town offers a great view of the area and allowed the villagers in their day to see the pirate ships approaching. Today, Immerovigli is a charming and quiet town.

The area has many hotels and traditional houses with some small taverns. Opposite to Immerovigli there is a huge rock called Skaros. The rock is a part of the land and had a castle built on it until early 1800. The castle occupies all administrative offices on the island. This part of the island collapsed after an earthquake, and what remains is a he huge hill on which it is based.
Immerovigli is also placed in front of the volcano and offering stunning views of the sunset.

What you should see:
Skaros Rock: if we walk about 20 minutes west of Imerovigli, we will meet a strange rock where you can see the remains of a Venetian castle. From the rock we can find a nice view of the caldera.
