Firostefani is located north of Fira and is within walking distance that separates it from its larger neighbor. As with Fira, views from this part of Santorini are spectacular.
The city is located higher than Fira to offer a different perspective of the volcano. And, of course, one can enjoy the magnificent view of the city of Fira itself. It is a great place to enjoy the sunset at night.
The village has a variety of restaurants where you can watch the sunset in all its glory. Between the village of Firostefani and Imerovigli is the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos. The monastery is open from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 8-12.30. Once inside, you can see either side of the island or the volcano and beyond.
As with Fira , Firostefani is full of hotels. All are very varied and colorful and have a wonderful mix of creams and whites, like the houses on the island.
What you should see:
The Monastery of Agios Nikolaos is located between the villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli. Founded in 1674, has important Byzantine relics and icons.
